Most people who open Premiere Pro for the first time can get two clips onto a timeline within ten minutes and then spend three months never getting any faster. The difference between that and a working editor is not talent. It is a small number of habits: organising media before you touch the timeline, trimming with the keyboard rather than the mouse, cutting on sound rather than on picture, and knowing which export setting to use without guessing.

Over two days you cut a two-minute corporate film from a supplied set of rushes: interview footage, cutaways, a music bed and a logo. Day one is structure and the edit itself. You set up a project that will still make sense in a year, ingest footage and create proxies so that large files behave on a laptop, then build a rough assembly and refine it with the four trim tools. The afternoon is spent on the part that actually makes an edit feel professional, which is pacing an interview with J cuts and L cuts and cutting away at the right moment.

Day two adds everything around the picture. You bring dialogue to a consistent level with the Essential Sound panel, lay music under it and duck it properly, build lower thirds in the Essential Graphics panel, and generate captions with Speech to Text before editing them by hand. The final session covers colour with Lumetri, matching two cameras using the scopes, and export: which codec, which preset, and how to queue jobs in Media Encoder rather than tying up your machine.

The syllabus maps to the published exam objectives for the Adobe Certified Professional in Adobe Premiere Pro, which is delivered through Certiport. We prepare you for the exam. We do not award the certification, and no course can guarantee a pass. If you go on to add the After Effects certification, Adobe awards the Video Design Specialty Credential for the pair.

Editing and motion graphics are separate crafts that share a timeline, so people often take this alongside After Effects Level 1: one course teaches you to assemble a film, the other teaches you to build the things that move on top of it.

MyLearnPlus Adobe Faculty

Adobe Certified Professionals teaching the Creative Cloud track

The Creative Cloud track is taught by a small pool of practising designers, retouchers, editors and production artists rather than by one trainer with a broad brochure. Everyone who teaches on this track has to meet the same standard before they take a class: a current Adobe Certified Professional credential in the application they teach, obtained through Certiport in the same way we tell learners to obtain theirs, and recent production experience in a studio, agency or in-house team. Teaching Photoshop here means you still retouch files for clients. Teaching InDesign means you still send documents to print and deal with what comes back. Instructors work on the current Creative Cloud release, and they are expected to know the published exam objectives for the courses that prepare learners for an Adobe exam.

Classes are staffed one instructor per cohort, and the instructor for your date is named in your joining instructions before the course starts. A new instructor teaches the MyLearnPlus syllabus under observation before running it alone, so the exercise files, the workbook and the sequence of a day are the same whoever is in front of you. Large private cohorts are staffed with a second assisting instructor so that nobody waits with a hand up, and hybrid sessions with remote joiners are run with someone watching the online room. If an instructor has to be replaced at short notice the substitute teaches the same syllabus from the same materials, and we tell you before the day rather than on it.

What kind of computer do I need for a video course?
More than for a Photoshop class. Video editing is limited by memory, disk speed and the graphics card, and a machine with 8GB of memory and a full hard drive will make the two days frustrating. We send Adobe's published system requirements and a setup check about a week before the class, and we teach proxy workflows on day one precisely because they let a modest laptop cut 4K footage comfortably. Leave around 40GB of free disk space for the exercise media and cache files.
Is the Premiere Pro software included in the price?
No. Premiere Pro is a subscription from Adobe and we do not resell licences. If you do not have one, Adobe offers a free trial that covers the two days, and your employer may already hold licences you can be added to. Classroom seats in Colombo come with the software installed on a machine built for editing.
Do I need to bring my own footage?
No. A full set of rushes is supplied and is yours to keep: interview footage, cutaways, a music bed and a logo, all cleared for use in class and in your portfolio. Every exercise is built around that material so nobody is held up by a card that will not import. If you have footage of your own you are welcome to try the export and captioning exercises on it once you have finished the supplied edit.
What happens if I miss a day?
Every live session is recorded and the recording stays available for 12 months, so you can catch up in your own time. If you would rather sit the session again live you can join that half day with a later cohort at no cost, subject to seats, and your free repeat of the full course still stands.
Do you issue a certificate?
Yes. You receive a MyLearnPlus certificate of completion, issued by Livezen Technologies, naming the course, the version of Premiere Pro taught and the hours completed. That is a record of training rather than an Adobe qualification, which is a separate exam.
Does this course include the Adobe Certified Professional exam?
The exam fee is not included. The syllabus covers the published objectives for the Adobe Certified Professional in Adobe Premiere Pro exam and you receive practice questions written against those domains, but the exam itself is booked and sat through a Certiport testing centre, and we cannot guarantee a pass. Completing both the Premiere Pro and the After Effects professional certifications earns the Adobe Video Design Specialty Credential.
Can my employer be invoiced, and can we pay in rupees?
Yes. Organisations in Sri Lanka are invoiced in LKR and organisations elsewhere in USD, and we can issue a pro forma invoice against your purchase order before the class. For a team of four or more, private delivery is usually better value and lets us rebuild the exercise around your own footage, your brand template and the platforms you actually publish to.
