• Add worked examples to a prompt and measure the difference they make on the same input.
• Specify an output contract, including a table with fixed columns or a JSON object with named fields, that a downstream system can rely on.
• Ground an answer in your own document, require a quoted source passage, and force the model to say when the answer is not there.
• Break a task that is too large for one prompt into a chain of steps that can each be checked.
