Somebody runs a demonstration, a few teams start pasting company documents into whatever assistant they signed up for, and eighteen months later there is no register of what is being used, no agreed rule on what may be typed in, and one automation that nobody can maintain because the person who built it has left. This programme runs the sequence properly: understand, use, automate, govern.
AI Foundations: AI for Everyone starts with what these tools actually are and why fluent text is not the same as correct text, and finishes with a personal playbook of five prompts for your own recurring tasks. AI Assistants at Work puts that to work across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Microsoft 365 Copilot on real documents, spreadsheets and email from your own week, including which assistant to reach for and what each one can and cannot see. AI Automation and Agents takes a process you brought with you, maps it, and builds it in Zapier, Make and n8n, with model steps that return validated structured output, retrieval over your own documents, error branches, a cost model and a runbook. AI Governance and Responsible Use closes the loop with the register, the risk tiers, the human oversight step, the vendor due diligence pack and the incident procedure.
The programme is built to be taken by a group from the same organisation. When it is, the deliverables line up: the playbooks come from real tasks, the automation is a process you actually run, and the governance register at the end lists the tools your own people are already using rather than a worked example. That register, the runbook and the disclosure standard are the artefacts you keep.
Thirty hours over five days, live online in your own timezone or in the classroom in Colombo, taken in any order within twelve months of your first class, although the sequence above is strongly recommended. No coding is required at any point; two optional steps in the automation course use a short JavaScript snippet that is supplied and explained. The governance day covers the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 42001, the EU AI Act risk tiers and Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act, and nothing in it is legal advice.
