Two days building a real five-page WordPress site: block themes, global styles, templates, a working contact form, SEO basics, backups and a launch checklist.
What you'll be able to do
- Explain the difference between WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress, and what a domain, hosting and the database each do.
- Install WordPress on a local or staging environment and configure the settings that matter on day one, including permalinks.
- Choose and install a block theme, then set the colour palette, typography and spacing in the Site Editor so the whole site changes from one place.
- Edit templates and template parts, including the header, footer, page template and single post template.
- Build the five pages of a supplied brief from blocks and patterns, reusing sections instead of rebuilding them.
- Set up a blog with posts, categories, an archive and a single post layout.
