A one-day retouching and compositing intensive: frequency separation, dodge and burn, colour grading and placing a subject into a new scene.
What you'll be able to do
- Assess a portrait and write a short retouching plan that separates raw processing from pixel work.
- Build a non-destructive retouching stack that keeps cleanup, texture, shaping and grading on separate layers.
- Remove blemishes and stray hairs with the Healing Brush, Patch and Clone Stamp without smearing skin texture.
- Apply frequency separation to correct blotchy tone while leaving pores and detail intact.
- Shape a face with dodge and burn on a neutral grey layer rather than on the pixels themselves.
- Grade a portrait with Curves and Selective Colour to a set brief, and treat eyes, teeth and lips believably.
