About this course

Beginner 1 day · 6 hours

One day on how AI assistants work, how to get a useful answer, where they get things wrong, and what is safe to type into one at work.

What you'll be able to do

  • Explain in plain language what a large language model does and why fluent text is not the same as correct text.
  • Describe the difference between an assistant answering from training and one answering from a document or a web search you gave it.
  • Write a prompt that states the task, the reader, the constraints and the format you want back, instead of a one-line question.
  • Turn a rough brief into a usable first draft and then edit it into your own voice rather than sending the machine's.
  • Summarise a long document, email thread or transcript into decisions, actions and open questions.
  • Sort a set of messy notes or free-text comments into themes and produce a short written summary of what they say.

What's included

  • Class recording, available for 12 months
  • Exercise pack: sample briefs, documents, transcripts and comment sets to practise on
  • Course workbook with every prompt pattern demonstrated in class
  • Verification checklist and a one-page template for your own AI ground rules
  • MyLearnPlus certificate of completion

  • One free repeat of the same live class, terms shown on the booking page
